The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) ensures the security and prosperity of Canada by managing the access of people and goods to and from Canada.  The Federal agency is responsible for processing necessary documents for facilitating the importation of goods to be cold or winter weather tested in Thompson.

The Canadian Goods & Services Tax may apply to some goods being brought over the border into Canada from any where in the world. In Manitoba, the Manitoba Public Insurance Provincial Licensing Branch processes temporary auto permits, and these permits can be applied for ahead of time by contacting Thompson Unlimited at 204 677-1900.  Please be prepared to provide the following information:  Your Company Name, serial number, year, make and model of the vehicle, and how the permit can be sent to you (fax or mailing address).  The cost for the 30 day Temporary Permit is about $175.00 Canadian per vehicle.

Under Section 7(1)(a) of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act, a vehicle may be admitted temporarily into Canada without complying with the Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations if it is to be used in Canada for exhibition, demonstration, evaluation, testing or special purposes only.  Click here to view the application.
