Thompson Unlimited’s economic development programs and services ultimately focus on sustainable local economic growth and development. Toward this end, we provide:
- Small business/home-based microfinance loans
- Downtown revitalization activities
- Source of updated community information for use by potential new residents to Thompson, entrepreneurs, site selectors, investors, etc.
- Assistance in proposal writing, technical assistance on business development and pathfinding to other sources of funding.
- Assistance to investors and winter weather testing companies.
- Business retention and expansion efforts including labor force development.
We view a regional approach to economic development as being essential to accomplishing our Mission. A strong relationship already exists between Thompson to the region of Northern Manitoba, and the access of goods and services between Thompson and the region is of focus. Strengthening the economic and social connections between the two is important as well. We believe that the qualities of life and the betterment of the region are enhanced by working together on matters of common interest or concern. From an economic development perspective, Thompson Unlimited represents the economic development capacity of the City.
