Thompson Unlimited - the City of Thompson’s Economic Development Corporation, exists to help Thompson grow and diversify.  The Mission of Thompson Unlimited (TU) is to ” . . . foster a dynamic business climate by providing support and resources to grow Thompson as a northern center of diverse economic opportunities, and as a community having a well-developed quality of life.”

Toward this end, a goal of TU is to advance efforts related to Downtown Revitalization.  TU provides administrative support to a group of dedicated individuals who form a committee to advance on downtown revitalization.  With funding from the City of Thompson, the committee’s work relates to implementing recommendations of a report focusing on downtown revitalization that relate to activities, appearance and infrastructure of the downtown core.  Presented below are annual activity reports that highlight the work of the committee.

In 2010, the Downtown Revitalization Committee to advance becoming designated a Manitoba Community in Bloom.  The mission of Manitoba Communities in Bloom is to inspire a sustainable approach to improving the quality of life and civic pride in Manitoba’s communities through sustainable best practices in community involvement, environmental awareness, beautification, heritage preservation, education, and networking.  Below are annual reports that present the year’s activities undertaken as part of our Community in Bloom effort.

Thompson Unlimited’s participation in downtown revitalization has widened to now include our Community Works Loan Program.  The loan program can be accessed by local businesses to improve, modernize or maintain storefront appearances.  For further information, click here.
